When reporting a support issue, system info is key.  This thread is a posting joint for getting specifications on various operating systems.  I'll start with my OS.

Windows XP Professional

1.  Click START > CONTROL PANEL > SYSTEM.  On the first tab called "General" you'll see your "System" information and your "Computer" information.  That's what we're interested in on this menu.

2.  Click START > HELP AND SUPPORT.  Type "specifications" in the search box without the quotes.  Select "Get information about your computer" in the Search Results window.  Then select "Find information about the hardware installed on this computer."  It'll take a bit of time to gather the info, but once it's done you'll see tons of specs.  We really like the video card and sound card info, but anything else you want to copy and paste will always help.

3.  Click on "Get information about your computer" again and this time select "View general system information about this computer."  The essentials here are the Specifications, Operating System, Processor, and Memory (RAM), but you can always copy and paste more if needs be.
